SCM440/SAE4140/1.7225 steel flat bar for mechanical with width 2000-2200mm
SCM440 SAE4140 1.7225 hardened alloy tool Steel Flat Bar With quenching and tempering
1.7225 classify in the group of low alloy which provide high strength through combination of Chromium and Molybdinum. This result in impact resistance at low temperature.Selling condition is quenched and tempered. Its convenience for further surface hardening in order to enhance surface hardness. Caution is it is not suitable to use at temperature higher than 480c since hardness will sharply fall. Besides, usage or tempering at level 230-270c might cause condition of blue brittleness which will decrease its strength.
42CrMo steel is an ultra-high strength steel with high strength and toughness, good hardenability, no obvious temper brittleness, high fatigue limit and multiple impact resistance after quenching and tempering, and good low temperature impact toughness.

Feature:
1. Good strength, hardenability and toughness.
2. High creep strength and long lasting strength under the high temperature.
Appliation:
Production load large, complex shape and valuable tool (e.g, scraper, gear, milling cutter, drilling, tapping, etc.)Cold forging die, forging tools;Strip cutting machine, heading forming die. This alloy finds many applications as forgings for the aerospace and oil and gas industries, along with myriad uses in the automotive, agricultural and defense industries, Typical uses are forged gears and shafts, spindles, fixtures, jigs and collars.

Annealing
Forgings of 4140 grade may be annealed by transferring the parts straight from the forging operation to a furnace held at a suitable temperature, between 1450 and 1550 º F (790 and 840 º C), holding for a suitable time then furnace cooling, forming a structure suitable for machining. This kind of treatment is best used for parts with simple shapes. If some areas of a forging will finish much colder than others then a uniform structure will not be obtained, in which case a spheroidizing anneal at around 1380 º F (750 º C) may be used. It is safe to say that experience alone will decide the best type of annealing treatment to be used prior to machining.
Heat Treatment
Heat treatment is carried out after hot working to render the steel suitable for machining, and to meet the mechanical property ranges specified for the steel’s particular applications.
